Pierre Rescan - Reviews
– A. Dumond in Les cahiers de la guitare, n°74
Listening to Pierre Rescan's latest CD, you think you’re rediscovering melodies that you already know, and then you realise that they’re his own compositions. He can embrace a musical style and invest it with his own colour, sliding into it as if it were his own.
Pierre Rescan is a free-spirited artist, and hearing his music, we can imagine ourselves made a little freer too.
– Peter Thornton, English journalist
Pierre Rescan creates a special rapport with his audience. Not for him the silent demeanour of the concert performer - he believes and delights in engaging with the audience. And on his recordings, he prefaces each piece with a very personal dedication. For 90 minutes, Pierre Rescan fascinated his audience with an intimate mixture of personal reminiscences and academic knowledge, as he traced the history of the guitar from the court of Henry VIII to the Spanish dance halls of South America to the hobos who traveled the freight trains of the American depression. An evening full of French charm and fine guitar playing.
